Give me a second, I’m just reflecting on the fact that this is going to be the last weekend of summer. 😭
Minnesota in the fall might be the most divine places on earth, but, ugh. Summer. WHY. The struggle is real.
Regrouping in 3… 2…
Today we’ve got a teeny fun lil video to prove to you how easy it is to make a pitcher of margaritas for your next crowd, whenever they might find you, like probably in one and a half days for the holiday weekend!
How To Make Our Pitcher Margaritas (30 Sec):
I’ll be honest with you – Pinch of Yum has seen about 1.75 drink recipes in its five years of existence, which is 100% fitting to who I am as a person. The Blog Me would like to know mixed drinks and crafted cocktails inside and out and pat myself on the back for being halfway through my training as a sommelier. Or something. I don’t even know if I’m talking about it right.
But the Real Me is the one who makes margaritas in a pitcher at home in my yoga pants (that’s generous – let’s just call sweats what they are) and serves them at dinner club and brings them over to Neighbor Nights and makes them for occasional friends-are-coming-over weekend shindig. That’s about as drink-y as things get around here.
Lucky for anyone who might happen to be at my house this weekend, the Real Me is showing up with a pitcher of margaritas to share!
Labor Day Weekend is almost upon us – I am chronically late to everything EXCEPT a good long weekend – and I have a feeling that all the friends are coming over to everywhere, and all the foods are going to be eaten, and all of said friends are going to feel happy things together. Like, for instance, if you want to talk food: tacos and hot dogs and Juicy Lucys and state fair food and homemade crackers and cheese and chips and that one corn dip again. <- PS. This corn dip is only in my life because I have a dinner club. Yeah. You need to go start a dinner club TODAY.
If you’re making these and you want real lime juice in there (TRUST ME YOU DO), please use one of those nifty citrus juicers.
It’s $20 that will save you a heap-ton of work about 10x a year when you have parties and make these margaritas. Order it on Amazon if you are living the good life with that amazing thing known as two-day Prime delivery, or pick one up at Target when you go out to get your limes later today. SO worth it.
Pitcher Style Margaritas for a Crowd
Total Time: 7 minutes
Yield: 8 servings 1x
Description
Pitcher Margaritas for a Crowd – all you need is simple syrup, lime juice, and tequila. These make THE BEST party drinks!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 part simple syrup
- 2 parts lime juice
- 3 parts tequila
Instructions
- Make the simple syrup by boiling water and stirring in an equal measurement of sugar until dissolved (i.e. one cup water + one cup sugar).
- Stir the simple syrup, lime juice, and tequila together.
- Cut a lime into wedges and use one wedge to wet the rim of the glass. Place salt in a dish and tip the glass upside down into the salt so it sticks to the wet rim.
- Add ice cubes to each glass and pour the margaritas into the glasses – these will be strong and a big handful of ice helps balance it all out. We also put the ice right in the pitcher for our last party and that worked fine, too. Place a little lime wedge on the rim of the glass as pictured for looks!
Notes
Measurements:
If you use a cup measure as your “part”, you’ll get about 8 servings.
1 cup simple syrup + 2 cups lime juice + 3 parts tequila = 6 cups
6 cups = 1 average-sized pitcher = 8 individual margaritas
It took me about 15-20 small limes to get 2 cups lime juice.
Scale up or down as needed depending on the size of your group!
Store any leftover margaritas in the fridge. Good news: this will keep for quite a while! 🙂 Just cover the top of the pitcher well so it doesn’t get any weird fridge tastes.
